Alyssa Strickland
Postdoctoral Researcher Alyssa is leading a study to develop genomic tools for rapid identification of tuna species that are of high economic importance. Additionally, she is using whole genome sequencing to understand relationships between tuna species across ocean basins. She earned her PhD at the University of New Hampshire studying eastern oyster population genomics and their responses to stressors, such as disease and temporal conditions, using long read sequence data. She earned her MSc at the University of New Hampshire in integrative and organismal biology, and her BSc in genetics from Clemson University. |

Ellyse Anderson
PhD Student Ellyse's research uses genetic approaches to study aquatic organisms at both population and species levels. During her PhD, she will investigate population structure and thermal adaptation of brook trout across the native range. She is passionate about using genomics in an ecology framework to find management and conservation solutions that benefit both the environment and people that depend on it. Ellyse received her BS in Aquatic Biology from UC Santa Barbara and worked at the USDA's National Wildlife Research Center in the Wildlife Genetics Project prior to starting at NCSU. |

Sabrina Siegan
MSc Student Sabrina’s research focuses on evaluating genetic outcomes of brook trout restoration efforts within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The goal of her MSc thesis is to use genomic data to better understand translocation success and inform future management efforts. She is enthusiastic about the use of genetic methods by fisheries professionals to conserve biodiversity in the context of climate change. Sabrina received her BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources from West Virginia University. She has worked with various salmonid species before starting at NCSU, including lake whitefish and sockeye salmon, but brook trout are still her favorite. |

Cody
Lab Mascot Cody's research primarily focuses on the behavioral ecology of eastern gray squirrels in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. He is also keenly interested in suburban traffic management and control, particularly in the context of bicycles, golf carts, and other wheeled modes of transportation. His primary role in the lab is to maximize morale, treat consumption, and overall good boy-ness. |
